Issue #08 | Date: November 24, 2023

Hello 3D enthusiast,

Hey there, welcome to the eighth edition of the 3D Nilsletter! I'm back and all set to share the latest buzz from the 3D world this past week. Brace yourself for some awesome insights and inspiration for your projects, especially for all you motion graphics enthusiasts—sweet new tools are coming your way! I'm sure you'll find something super exciting in this edition!

And now to this weeks of new stuff in the 3D space.

Krea is a hot new design tool in town using cool AI tech to seriously speed things up! Demos show 5 frames per second, with promises to hit 10 soon. It's almost real-time, letting you have awesome control over the images you create. You can sculpt or draw something simple and let the AI jazz it up. Check out this video where the famous Blender tutorial gets a real-time AI makeover! Plus, there's a demo using an iPad camera that really shows off how fast this AI works. I can't wait to see the first games using AI for visuals. Join the waitlist here.

Project Avalanche is the fresh new tool in Epic Games' growing arsenal. They teased it a while back, but now we're seeing more videos showing off this exciting tool in action. The closed beta is happening, and they're planning to drop an experimental release around Q1 2024. I'm psyched to try it out! With my background in motion graphics design, this feels like a perfect fit. Unreal's power and speed mixed with design tools from Cinema4D and After Effects – this tool is going to shake up the motion graphics scene big time!

Profectum Media released an awesome motion graphics piece for the Phoenix Suns, and what makes this project stand out is how they flawlessly integrated NeRF captures. They've pulled off shots that were nearly impossible to achieve before NeRF came into play. Additionally, they shared an amazing behind-the-scenes video, showcasing how they captured the athletes in action to produce those stunning bullet time effects – all done with a whopping total of 48 GoPro cameras.

I hope you enjoyed this week's news roundup, and I'm looking forward to sharing more exciting developments in the 3D space in the upcoming editions of this 3D Nilsletter.

That’s all for now!

Regards,
Nils Bakker
