Exploring Digital Frontiers: Ikea’s XR Insights, NVIDIA’s AI Innovations, and Cupra’s XR Car Configurator | Issue #10 | July 11, 2024

Issue #10 | Date: July 11, 2024

Hi!

Hey there, and welcome to the tenth edition of the Nilsletter! This week, I’ve got some exciting updates from the world of XR, AI, and 3D. Whether you’re into motion graphics, AI advancements, or looking for creative inspiration, there’s something here for you. Let’s dive in!

And now to this weeks of new stuff

AWE uploaded this video 3 weeks ago, but I just found out about it existence until now. And this presentation by Martin Enthed from Ikea is a goldmine of information and inspiration for anyone working in the 3D / XR field. It really shows how such a big company is keeping up with latest trends and technologies. And building a 3D pipeline around their products that makes it easy to adapt to new disruptive tech.

NVIDIA released a new research paper about a technique to generate images with a text prompt + input image(s). It will use the subject or style from the input image(s) to generate a completely new image. Whilst maintaining the subject from the input images as best as possible. With (promising) incredible speeds. This could be really interesting for generating product images of excisitng products, without the need to ship and photograph the product in different environments. Or try garments on different people without the need to create new garments. The example images look promising, but as always, still not perfect. We also have to wait a bit to get our hands on this as only the research paper is shared yet.

The Meta Quest 3 demo of the virtual CUPRA car is a great example of using XR to get a detailed look at a car without the actual vehicle. Developed by MSM.digital, this configurator features crazy little details. Such as an interactive display, a working car horn, and spatial audio. It isn’t a full replacement for seeing the car in person, but it’s a great alternative if you can’t access the real thing.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s roundup, and I’m excited to bring you more thrilling updates and innovations from the world of 3D, AI, and digital technologies in the upcoming editions of the Nilsletter. Stay tuned for next week’s edition!

That’s all for now!

Regards,
Nils Bakker
